EVO ACADEMY
EVO Football Academy exists to give young players in Perth, Western Australia, the same coaching and development opportunities enjoyed by athletes in elite overseas academies.
Academy Program – High Performance Application
The Academy Program is for players who are ready to apply their techniques in a high-performance environment that mirrors elite overseas academies.
-
Purpose: Application of technical skills under match intensity and tactical demands.
-
Training: 2–4 sessions per week, including gym/S&C and analysis.
-
Fixtures: Every term, Academy players are placed in teams that play three Friday Night Matches, a mix of intra-Academy fixtures and sanctioned games against Football West-affiliated Clubs, always following FW’s friendly match process.
-
Development Focus: Maximising purposeful training hours, match minutes, and exposure to tours, tournaments, and high-level coaching.
-
This is where players learn to perform consistently at speed, under pressure, and in structured systems.
Why the EVO Academy?
-
Perth players often miss out on quality training hours compared to their international peers.
-
EVO bridges that gap with 2–4 sessions per week, professional coaches, and an environment that mirrors elite European models.
-
Academy players access structured training, positional development, performance analysis, and strength & conditioning - everything required to develop as both a footballer and a person.
-
EVO provides targeted training sessions across technique, decision-making, tactical awareness, physical conditioning, and mentality. These sessions are tailored to meet individual player needs at each stage of their journey.
-
Whilst you don’t need to play for a club to be a part of the Academy, our Academy programs and curriculum have been strategically designed to support players through their Football West Club season and pre-season by providing additional, specialised coaching that complements their weekly team training with their preferred Football West Club.
-
By aligning Academy sessions with the demands of the Football West league season, EVO ensures that players are not only training harder but also playing smarter when they represent their preferred Club each weekend.
Train-On Program – Technique Development
Not every player enters the Academy in the same way. EVO Football offers two connected pathways designed to meet players where they are and help them progress to the next level.
The Academy Train-On Program for players who need to focus on the development of their core techniques before stepping into the high-performance environment of the Academy.
-
Purpose: Emphasis on refining technical skills, decision-making, and building a strong football foundation.
-
Training: 1-4 sessions per week alongside Academy players, led by our professional coaching staff.
-
Opportunities: Train-On players may be considered for Academy Friday Night Matches based on squad needs, performance, and commitment.
-
Support: Access to athlete development sessions, positional training, tactical awareness, and soon, players will have access to online feedback tools.
The Train-On tier provides flexibility, individual attention, and a structured pathway toward the full Academy experience.

What else do academy players have access to
At EVO, we believe match minutes are an essential part of development. Training creates the foundation, but regular match play teaches decision-making, resilience, and game intelligence.
-
Friday Night Matches: Each term, Academy and Female Academy players are placed into teams that compete in three structured Friday night fixtures.
-
Balanced Opportunity: These games are deliberately scheduled to ensure every player gains meaningful minutes across the term.
-
Type of Matches:
-
Internal fixtures against other EVO Academy squads.
-
Games against external Football West-affiliated Clubs, always sanctioned and hosted in line with Football West’s friendly match process.
-
-
Player Development Focus: Matches are treated as an extension of training. Coaches use them to evaluate learning, provide live feedback, and set individual challenges for players.
This approach guarantees that every Academy player has match exposure each term, while ensuring every fixture remains Football West compliant.
